1) Английские глаголы, выражающие знание, мнение, предположение, суждение: assume - предполагать, believe - полагать, confirm - подтверждать, consider - рассматривать, claim - утверждать, declare - объявлять, determine - устанавливать, discover - обнаруживать, demonstrate - демонстрировать, estimate - оценивать, find - находить, feel - чувствовать, guess - полагать, expect - ожидать, imagine - воображать, know - знать, maintain - утверждать, presume - предполагать, suppose - предполагать, think - думать, understand - понимать, могут употребляться в конструкции со сложным дополнением: глагол + сущ/мест в объектной форме + to-infinitive. Инфинитив представляет собой глагол to be либо глагол to have. На русский язык данная конструкция чаще всего переводится с помощью придаточного дополнительного.

I believe it to be a dangerous weapon — Я считаю, что это опасное оружие.

I always found her to be perfectly honest — Я всегда считал ее безукоризненно честной.

I consider him to be the best candidate — Я считаю его лучшим кандидатом.

2) Перечисленные глаголы в активном залоге чаще употребляются в конструкции с именным придаточным, вводимым союзом that.

I believe that it is a dangerous weapon — Я считаю, что это опасное оружие.

I consider that he is the best candidate — Я думаю, что он лучший кандидат.

3) Будучи употребленными в пассивном залоге ( Passive), рассматриваемые глаголы чаще употребляются в сочетании с инфинитивным оборотом, чем с изъяснительным придаточным предложением, вводимым союзом that.

She is known to be perfectly honest (= It is known that she is perfectly honest) — Она известна своей кристальной честностью (Про нее знают, что она безукоризненно честная).

He is thought to be the best player (= It is thought that he is the best player) — О нем думают, что он лучший игрок.

He is known to have been the best player (= It is known that he was the best player) — Известно, что он был лучшим игроком.
